DEFARRELL DAVIS

FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, TRACK

Defarrell was a three sport athlete at Melvindale High School, graduating in 2009. He was a 4-year member of the varsity track team, a 3-year member of the varsity football team, and a 3-year member of the varsity football team. In the fall of 2008 he was named all league in football for the Mega Conference. As a senior, he helped the varsity basketball team win a Mega League basketball conference championship and received honorable mention for all-league. After two years of playing at NCC, he received a scholarship to Central Michigan University to play football for this Division I MAC university. He was at CMU from 2011-2015 where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Sociology while playing football on a full scholarship. During his two years of playing football at CMU he helped his team win a Mac Bowl Championship (Little Caesars Bowl).

ALYCIA WEBSTER

Years attended MHS: 2009-2012 Sports played while at MHS: Basketball (4), Volleyball (4), Track (3), and Soccer (1) Alycia Webster attended Melvindale High School from 2009-2012. While there she managed to add four sports to her Varsity Jacket; basketball, volleyball, track, and soccer. As Varsity Basketball Captain, she led her team to the Downriver League Championship, taking the title in 2011. Her talents were continually recognized throughout her high school career, receiving multiple all-league and all-conference honors. Alycia made her way to States in 2012 for shotput and currently holds the school record for farthest female throw. After high school, Alycia went on to play basketball at Knox College, later transferring to Grand Valley State University where she picked up rugby. Continuing along her own path, she joined the Navy in 2015, specializing in Cyber Intelligence.

He went on to play college baseball at Easten Michigan University from 1976-1979. During his time at Eastern, he was a member of the 1976 Men’s College Baseball World Series runner up and was selected as a team co-captain in 1978. He received numerous awards for his baseball career while there and also served as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Eastern in 1980. Mr. Wolan was a substitute teacher in the MHS-Northern Allen Park school district from 1981-1984. He also coached at MHS during this time serving as a baseball and football coach.

Years attended MHS: 2002-2006 Sports played at MHS: Volleyball & Basketball While at MHS, Mallory was a three year varsity basketball player and a 4 year varsity volleyball player. She received three times all league and two times all region volleyball honors. She was a team captain and Most Valuable Player her senior year for volleyball and a team captain for girls basketball. After high school, she received a scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. As a four year starter, she amassed an impressive college career with 495 sets played, 863 kills, 44 aces and 375 blocks. While there, she earned her degree in psychology and criminal justice.

Draft by Minnesota Twins, New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles in three different drafts between 1965-1967. Signed with Boston Red Sox in 1967.

Football: 4 year Varsity Letterman Most Valuable Lineman All Area All League (MIAA) All NAIA Basketball: 4 year Varsity Letterman All League MIAA All Mid-West NAIA Team and League MVP Track: 2 year Varsity Letterman Went on to play Semi-pro football for the Melvindale Redskins and won all league offense and defense in 1959 and 1960 as well as most valuable lineman in 1959.

Melvindale High School All State honorable mention. Melvindale Redskins, 1954-1959. Most Valuable Back, 1954. Head Coach from 1955-59. 6 year record as coach - 46 wins - 4 losses - 2 ties. Five years American Football League Champions. Served in American Military in 1951-52 11th Airborne Division.

Class of '87. Basketball: 4 year Varsity Letterman Scoring Leader for 3 years Team Captain for 3 years First Women's MHS Outstanding Athlete Award Winner 1st team All League, All Metro, All Suburban, and All State. Went on to play Basketball for 4 years at Indiana Institute of Technology.

Went onto play for semi-pro team, Melvindale Redskins. Baseball: 3 year Varsity Letterman. Played Shortstop and 2nd base. Went onto play basketball on scholarship for the University of Detroit.

Melvindale Head Football and Baseball Coach (1951-1978). Coached MHS Football to 11 league titles ; was state quarter finalist in 1978. MHS Phys Ed Teacher. Michigan Football HoF. Michigan Coaches HoF (1984). Detroit Free Press Coach of the Year in 1978.
